To mark the National Culture Day, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Warsaw, the Timisoara 2023 European Capital of Culture Association, the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and the National Museum of Banat, invites you from 27 February to 24 March 2023, at the Collegium Novum of the "Adam Mickiewicz" University in Poznań, to discover the exhibition "Heritage in the spotlight - Spotlight Heritage Timișoara", presented with the support of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Romanian Language Department of the university, where Romanian has been taught since 1957. Through this exhibition the organizers want to present to the Polish public the built heritage and stories of Timișoara, which this year holds the title of European Capital of Culture.

Since 2016, the Polytechnic University of Timișoara has wanted to initiate such a multicultural, complex project, in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, as part of the official cultural program Timisoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture.

Year after year, the project "Heritage in the Spotlight - Spotlight Heritage Timisoara" tells the many stories of Timisoara through digital technologies. Stories of cultural and historical heritage are interwoven with those of past and present inhabitants through the digital overlay of intangible heritage found in novels, memories and oral history.

Street exhibitions, a fully dedicated museum exhibition of a neighbourhood that is in the spotlight every year, through its own website, a mobile app, an augmented reality app, virtual reality demonstrations, street theatre and dance performances, digital events and installations, guided and virtual tours, both in Timisoara and abroad. All these events are part of the set of projects that Spotlight Heritage Timisoara has been carrying out over the years, digitally or through physical presence, presenting the stories of Timisoara's historic neighbourhoods in new ways.

The project has been awarded, in 2022, at the Romanian PR Award Gala, the most important national competition recognising excellence in the field of promotion, with the Gold in Excellence for the "Public Sector Communication" section and the special award "PR Innovator of the Year". The "Heritage in the Spotlight" project is organised by the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, through the eLearning Centre, and the National Museum of Banat. This project is co-funded by the Municipality of Timișoara, through the Project Centre, and the Timiș County Council.

The Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw carries out activities throughout Poland, especially in cultural and university centres where Romanian is studied as a foreign language.
