A multimedia virtual and mixed reality show, produced in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara

Timișoara, July 2026 – The Jecza Foundation continued to implement its cultural program for residents of the Braytim area in Timișoara. To that end, on Friday, July 10, 2026, the Jecza Foundation Park hosted the fourth major event as part of the overall project „Jecza Foundation Park – Open Stage”: the multimedia performance „ArtTM – Heritage in the Spotlight: Timișoara / Spotlight Heritage Timișoara.”.

The event was a digital journey through the city’s history, organized in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara (UPT). The evening began with a series of live demonstrations of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) applications, where a group of 23 children and young people had the opportunity to test and explore the virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) applications „Spotlight Heritage Timișoara,” as well as the VR application „Nokia Bell Labs,” developed by UPT in collaboration with students from UPT’s Master’s program in Multimedia Technologies.

It all began with the ArtTM project, launched back in 2015 as a mobile app and a series of digital experiences dedicated to public art in the city and the works of sculptor Peter Jecza (also featured in the Jecza Museum’s collection), and has now been transformed into an interactive virtual experience with the help of the ID/IFR and Digital Education Department. The 14 public artworks that were an important part of the show were presented and explained to the audience by Sorina Jecza.

The entire event culminated in 3D projections on multiple screens and on the Jecza Museum building, which showcased in a unique way the sculptures from Timișoara, from the Jecza Museum, as well as heritage artifacts from the National Museum of Banat.

The program continued with the audience enjoying excerpts from the 10 productions of “Patrimoniul sub Reflectoare / Spotlight Heritage Timișoara” (part of the Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture program), in a interplay of imagery, movement, and memory, followed by an artistic performance dedicated to the theme of the 1989 Revolution and its martyrs, staged by the Magnum Dance Team. Beyond reviving local memory and Timișoara’s past, we wanted to demonstrate how digitization—ranging from 3D scanning of heritage objects at the National Museum of Banat to works of art and buildings, to the active involvement of young people in app development, succeeds in transforming the past into a vivid and interactive experience, accessible to everyone, without restrictions.

Admission to all activities as part of the show was completely free to the public.
