Within the framework of Heritage in the Spotlight Timisoara, the Polytechnic University of Timisoara brought to the forefront the Bega canal and its natural and historical environment through two impressive installations.

Bega Echoes/ Bega Echoes"by Norwegian artist Ingrid Bjørnaali and Romanian artist Marius Jurcais a remarkable foray into the world of technology, arts and heritage. This digital creation was created using technology to map and capture the monuments and anthropocentric sites of the Bega Canal, bringing to life this important waterway in Timișoara in a very special way.

Using advanced 3D mapping and scanning techniques, the artists captured the detail and beauty of the Bega Canal in a captivating and authentic way. This remarkable initiative has brought a new perspective to the importance and beauty of this iconic place.

An authentic detailed journey

The 3D scans not only produced outstanding images of the natural ecosystem, but the artists were able to bring to life every aspect of the Bega Canal, highlighting its history, culture and natural elements. By integrating into these scans the specific and diverse sounds of the flora and fauna that can be found along the canal, they have managed to create a totally immersive experience. Ingrid and Marius have created a digital journey that combines the details and history of the Bega Canal, giving the public an authentic and impressive look at this Timisoara landmark.

"Bega Echoes" is not just a digital creation; it's an impressive story, the perfect marriage of art, technology and heritage.

The event is part of the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara digital cultural initiative, part of the Cultural Programme Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture and is co-funded by EEA and Norway Grants.
