Finishing of the exhibition "Iosefin neighbourhood and Valeria Dr. Pintea - a novel in an exhibition" and the events of the series of the The HEARING

31 January 2020

The end of the open exhibition "The Iosefin Quarter and Valeria Dr. Pintea - a novel in an exhibition" took place on Friday, January 31 at Theresa Bastion and gathered dozens of visitors, people of culture and partners of the project. Timisoara residents and beyond are invited to continue to share the stories of the Iosefin neighbourhood through the project's mobile and digital augmented reality apps and website. https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/. The project continues with stories dedicated to the Elisabetin neighbourhood, which will be launched in June this year.

Politehnica University Timișoara, through the ID/IFR and e-Learning Centre and the Multimedia Centre, in partnership with the National Museum of Banat and the Association Timișoara 2021- European Capital of Culture marked the finishing of the museum exhibition "Iosefin district and Valeria Dr. Pintea - a novel in an exhibition". Dozens of visitors had the opportunity to relive for the last time the old stories of the Iosefin district, through the exhibits specific to the times, through mobile apps, augmented reality digital apps and stories from the Iosefin neighbourhood, selected from Valerie Dr. Pintea's novel. Also during the exhibition, guests could test for the last time the mobile apps and the "Spotlight Timisoara" augmented reality digital applications, accessible on an interactive table and digital tablets. The event was streamed LIVE on the project's official Facebook page @SpotlightHeritageTimisoara.

Centered around the memoirs taken from the novel by Valerie Dr. Pintea (author: Liana Maria Gomboșiu, Timișoara, Marineasa Publishing House, 2013), the exhibition was visited for almost 3 months by hundreds of Timisoara residents who were able to relive the Iosefin neighborhood of the past. In addition to the end of the museum exhibition, it also marked the end of the street exhibitions - the 16 significant landmarks of the Iosefin district, brought to life with the help of augmented reality applications.

The story of the Iosefin district continues but through the digital components of the project - the augmented/virtual reality applications and the project website https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/.

We continue to invite Timisoara's residents and visitors to tell us their stories, those who have lived in or visited the Iosefin district, memories or events, moments that are part of the lived and unspoken heritage of people and communities, online through ADD YOUR STORY https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/adauga-povestea-ta/

"Thank you very much to my colleagues at the Museum and UPT for all their efforts. Over the next few years we will try to expand this kind of collaboration. Because, as you know and as we wish, Politehnica wants to become more and more involved in the social and cultural life of Timișoara and not only in the technical and sporting life", said Prof. Dr. Ing. Florin Drăgan, rector-elect of Politehnica University of Timișoara.

"Iosefin Neighbourhood Stories will be back in the summer, but you can go and visit the Iosefin neighbourhood and tell us your stories via the website and mobile apps", explained Dr Diana Andone, the initiator of the "Heritage in the spotlight Timisoara" project.

Heritage in the Spotlight Project Timisoara continues in 2020 with events scheduled as part of the Elisabetin district (TACTILUL, 2020). The next exhibition of the project "Elisabetin and Netti Diel - a world in a trunk" will be launched in June 2020 and will continue the series of 3 components: digital, mobile and augmented reality applications, the exhibition in the National Museum of Banat and the street exhibition in Elisabetin. The announcement of the exhibition was also launched on Friday 31 January by Marius Cornea, curator at the National Museum of Banat.

"In the great Heritage under the Spotlight project, which spans several years, follows a foray into the world of the Elisabetin district, from an interesting perspective, the perspective of Netti Diel, wife of Dr. Ludwig or Lajos Diel - a collaboration with Professor Pia Brânzeu - to discover that world hidden in a trunk. It is Netti Diel's chest and, above all, a collection of historical textiles, from the Belle Époque and the interwar period - all to illustrate, from the perspective of the sense of touch, the history of the Elisabetin district", explained Marius Cornea.
