The Politehnica University of Timișoara, through the Department of ID/IFR and Digital Education is pleased to announce the selection and finalist entry of the Spotlight Heritage Timisoara cultural project, part of the Cultural Programme Timisoara 2023 European Capital of Culture, at the ECTN Awards 2024 - section Digitalisation advances and digital transition in Smart and Sustainable Cultural Tourism!

In 2024 we want to keep enjoying people and their stories that continue! The last 6 years have represented for the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara project the development of stories about Timisoara's culture and heritage with the help of technology, through the mobile app, website or complex augmented, virtual and mixed reality applications. 

2024 ECTN Awards Nomination - section Digitalisation advances and digital transition in Smart and Sustainable Cultural Tourism,  recognizes the efforts of our team in developing unique digital applications, which allow you to explore Timisoara's heritage in a totally new way. Through augmented, virtual and mixed reality, users can "travel" back in time, discover the stories of the past and interact with historical monuments and heritage objects of the National Museum of Banat, directly in the digital world. The apps have been used by hundreds of thousands of locals, tourists, virtual tourists, on the streets, museums and international festivals in 10 countries. All digital artifacts are in Romanian - English, licensed with Creative Commons License.

Now we need your vote to ensure that our story continues! Spotlight Heritage Timisoara was also selected for popularity vote, which means that YOU can contribute to its success by helping us win!

The winners (1st prize) and runners-up (2nd and 3rd prizes) will be revealed at the ECTN Awards Ceremony, which will take place at October 24 at Dublin Castle, Dublin, Ireland, during the 17th ECTN conference.

Spotlight Heritage Timisoara is part of a digital cultural initiative of the Polytechnic University of Timisoara through the Department of Digital Education and Multimedia Center, carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timisoara European Capital of Culture 2023.

European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) is the only pan-European network for the development and promotion of cultural tourism.

The joint jury is made up of representatives from ECTN, Europa Nostra, the European Travel Commission and Dublin City Council - European Capital of Intelligent Tourism 2024, with the participation of ENAT - European Network for Accessible Tourism for the category "Accessibility to Heritage".
