Spotlight HeritageTimișoara - Parallel worlds
12 May 2023 | 18:00
National Museum of Banat | Bastion Maria Theresia, attic B2 | Timișoara FIZIC and ONLINE
In 2023 the exhibition "Spotlight HeritageTimișoara - Parallel worlds", organized in the B2 Attic of Maria Theresia Bastion, part of the project Spotlight Heritage Timișoara / Patrimoniul sub reflectoarea, from National Cultural Programme Timisoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023 is organised by the National Museum of Banat, in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, through the ID/IFR and e-Learning Centre and the Multimedia Centre. The exhibition proposes to the public an incursion into the history of the districts through a baroque key: the allegory of the senses, , bringing together in a single exhibition all previous exhibitions with scenes from everyday life in Iosefin (2019), Elisabetin (2020), Fabric (2021), Cetate (2022) and Giroc (2023), a dormitory district from the communist period.
The opening of the exhibition on 12 May 2023 at 6 pm will take place both in physical format, in the B2 Attic of the Maria Theresia Bastion, and online and you can follow us on Facebook by going to: https://www.facebook.com/events/603496078411434
In the attic of the Theresia Bastion, cultural heritage items from the collections of the National Museum of Banat will be exhibited, illustrating the economic, social and cultural life of the five districts of Timișoara, together with various sources of memory: fragments of interviews and literary texts (novel, diary, memoirs). The exhibition includes an important selection of postcards, photographs, seals, guild diplomas, which bear witness to sequences in the history of the 5 districts of Timișoara and the various cultural-linguistic communities.
Visitors will be left with the joy of having explored urban spaces through the prism of some of the city's leading personalities. I will have the opportunity to explore the history of these neighbourhoods through the senses:
- The sense of vision and Valeria Pintea's world in the Iosefin district, through Liana Maria Gomboșiu's novel;
- The touch and the world hidden in a trunk of Netti Diel in the Elisabetin district, through the family diary of Piei Brînzeu;
- The hearing and the worlds in destinies of the Fabric district, in the archives of the Oral History and Cultural Anthropology Group, founded and coordinated by Mrs. Smaranda Vultur
- The sense of smell and the world in the mirror of the Cetate district, from the perspective of the poems written by Robert Șerban and the texts selected by Smaranda Vultur and Roxana Rogobete;
- The sense of taste and parallel worlds in the Giroc district, captured in Sorina Jecza's diary, visual impressions and information from the '89 Revolution.
The life of the Giroc neighbourhood in Timișoara is illustrated in a complex metaphor of the mirroring of the real world through contemporary art, of a family diary by Dr. Sorina Jecza Ianovici and introspection on communist industrialization and The 1989 Revolution through selections provided by the Museum of the 1989 Revolution, images by Constantin Duma. The sense of taste will be present through chemical taste reproduction experiments, transposing into the material world the taste of coffee, chocolate and wine, the chosen tastes for 2023.
Visitors will be able to participate immersively through various installations using augmented, virtual and mobile reality technologies to discover the stories behind the exhibits or various locations in Timisoara, they will be able to interact with the immersive visual and auditory installations.
Fragments of interviews and literary texts (novels, diaries, memoirs) are used by teachers and students of Politehnica Timisoara University to develop a web applications and 2 mobile apps (Android and iOS), based on a hierarchical structure and geographical mapping, and making them available through interactive multimedia tables, glasses virtual reality, mobile phones and tablets, and acute displays will allow you to explore paintings in augmented reality.
