The "Constantin Diaconovici Loga" National College has its origins in the State Gymnasium, founded in 1897, with Hungarian language of instruction. It has been operating in its present building since 1903, when the new high school building was opened. The present building was designed by the architect Ignác Alpár, in the style of the 1900s neo-baroque movement, and the building permit was issued in April 1902. The pupils of the first class (10 Romanians, 15 Hungarians, 9 Jews and the rest Germans, Serbs, Bulgarians) started school in the new location. It functioned as a Hungarian-language school with Dr. Schönvitzky Bertalan (1903-1914) and Reday János (1914-1919) as headmasters.

In August 1919 it was transformed into a high school with Romanian language of instruction, named after the illustrious teacher Constantin Diaconovici Loga. The eminent teachers who served it (George Călinescu, Ion Vidu, Vasile Mioc, Ion Curea, S. Bejan, etc.) and many of its graduates made a real contribution to the affirmation of the spirituality of the region and of the nation. In 1926 the high school led by the principal Vasile Mioc became a college, with the name of "Constantin Diaconovici Loga" Banat National College. In 1934, the lower cycle was established with Serbian language teaching, and from 1943 the upper cycle with Serbian language teaching was also established. The building of the high school was occupied and turned into a hospital by the Soviet army in 1944.

In 1948 the communist authorities named it "Nikos Beloianis", then Middle School No. 1. It was not until 1970 that it was renamed C.D. Loga. 

During 1999, the high school obtained the status of a national college, with the name "Constantin Diaconovici Loga" National College.

At the beginning of the 21st century the high school operated with a total of 52 classes, enrolling 1370 students in eight general education profiles. Tens of thousands of graduates have walked out of the halls of this landmark institution in national education.

The high school obtained two Diplomas of Excellence (in 2002 and 2012) from the Ministry of Education for students' results in international school Olympiads and competitions.
