Cetate Neighbourhood - A world in the mirror
Dance performance, with the use of digital technology and elements of augmented reality
Serbian Orthodox Vicariate, Timișoara | Monday | October 31, 2022 | 19:00
The Serbian Orthodox Vicarage hosted on October 31, at 7 pm, the dance show "Cetate neighborhood - A world in the mirror", the last show in the series of four, which the cultural project entitled "Spotlighting Timisoara's Heritage through Dance" proposed.
The character whose story was transmitted in dance steps was, again, a female one: Mariana. This is a little girl who grew up in the Cetate Neighbourhood, during the interwar period, and who, later, will become the first wife of the philosopher Mihai Șora. The story was told by Mariana at the age of full maturity, 84 years old, in an interview conducted by prof.univ.dr. Smaranda Vultur, at Băile Herculane, in 2001 and is part of the "Third Europe" (BCUT) archive. Technology and elements of augmented reality will have a very important role again.
The show was played by the Magnum Team Sports Dance Club, in collaboration with the Politehnica University of Timișoara and the National Museum of Banat and is part of the series of events dedicated to the cultural program Timișoara 2023 European Cultural Capital, held within the project "Spotlighting Timisoara's Heritage through Dance / Discover Timișoara's heritage through dance steps", project co-financed by the Timișoara City Hall through the Project Center.
The show combines dance with technology, through virtual and augmented reality components, and focuses on the stories of the former residents of the historic Cetate neighborhood, highlighting the cultural heritage and memories from Timisoara's oral history.
The exhibition " Spotlight Heritage Timișoara. Cetate neighborhood - A world in the mirror", organized by the National Museum of Banat and the Politehnica University of Timișoara this very year, which was based on the selection of literary texts collected by prof. univ.dr. Smaranda Vultur and assistant univ. dr. Roxana Rogobete, the memories from the oral history of Timisoara capitalized by the Group of Oral History and Cultural Anthropology, was the starting point of this show.
The "Spotlighting Timisoaraʹs Heritage through Dance" project continues the steps of two previous projects: one by Magnum Team, entitled "Dancing through heritage buildings", carried out in 2021, and the second by the Politehnica University of Timișoara, in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, entitled "Spotlight Heritage Timișoara".
