30 November 2022 @ 0:00 - 23:59
Due to the National Day of Romania, ICR Warsaw, the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Poland, the Politehnica University of Timișoara and the National Museum of Banat are organizing an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the city of Timișoara, which has a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional tradition reflected in the built heritage and the harmonious coexistence of four cultural-linguistic communities: Romanian, Hungarian, German and Serbian - the exhibition ”Spotlight Heritage Timișoara”, a project that is part of the program Timișoara 2023, European Capital of Culture. The exhibition was previewed on 25 November, on the occasion of the Romanian National Day reception hosted by the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Poland.
The reception organized by the Romanian Embassy was also an opportunity to promote Romania and Romanian cultural values, the event including an exhibition prepared by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw, dedicated to Timisoara's role as European Capital of Culture in 2023. It is on display on the outside screens of the Romanian Embassy in Warsaw, which also hosts the Romanian Cultural Institute in Warsaw (Fryderyka Chopina Street 10) and can be visited until 28 February 2023.
Through this exhibition, we want to increase the general public's interest in Timișoara's historical districts, by using digital storytelling to enable locals and tourists to see, hear, feel, act, co-create and internalize the city. Street posters with information and stories about the cultural and historical heritage of the city of Timișoara are displayed in both English and Polish.
Spotlight Heritage Timișoara / Patrimoniul sub reflectoare tells the multiple stories of Timișoara through digital technologies. Stories of the cultural and historical heritage intertwined with the personal ones of the inhabitants of yesterday and today through the digital overlay of the intangible heritage found in novels, memories and oral history. Year by year, digital and physical itineraries through the historical neighborhoods of Timișoara - Iosefin in 2019, Elisabetin in 2020, Fabric in 2021, Cetate in 2022 and, in 2023, all the neighborhoods from previous years and Giroc, reveal the stories of the city through several layers: a museum exhibition, street exhibitions, a website, a mobile application, an augmented reality application, virtual reality demonstrations, student competitions, international festivals, theater and street dance performances, digital events and installations, guided and virtual tours. The project will end with a final catalog.
Spotlight Heritage Timisoara / Spotlight Heritage Timișoara is a digital cultural initiative of the Politehnica University of Timișoara carried out in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, part of the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 European Capital of Culture. Cultural project co-financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, Timiș County Council.
