The Elisabetin neighborhood in different stages of the past, under the spotlight of Timisoara

The Elisabetin neighborhood in different stages of the past, under the spotlight of Timisoara

The third dance show, which took place on October 21 at Cinema Victoria Timișoara, brought the image of the Elisabetin neighborhood in different stages of the past, under the spotlight, with three female characters at its center: Netti - Timișoara between the wars, Carla - Timișoara in the years of communism and Pia - post-December Timișoara.

We are back with some images from the end of last week, from a special show about family, emotions, sensations and memories, a reprint of the lesser-known stories of a legendary neighborhood, where dance intertwined with technology.
A large and impressed audience joined us on Friday evening, at Victoria Cinema Timisoara, where the Elisabetin neighborhood was revealed through the prism of pluricultural voices, emotions and the old family, in an atypical journey through the memories of the Brînzeu family, the lives of three generations.
There was so much to (re)see and (re)discover, and we are more than happy to be able to create such an interaction with the citizens and to connect the ancient history of the city with the people of today.

The show was played by the Magnum Team Sports Dance Club, in collaboration with the Politehnica University of Timișoara and the National Museum of Banat and is part of the series of events dedicated to the cultural program Timișoara 2023 European Cultural Capital, held within the project "Spotlighting Timisoara's Heritage through Dance / Discover Timișoara's heritage through dance steps", project co-financed by the Timișoara City Hall through the Project Center.

The exhibition "Spotlight Heritage Timișoara. The Elisabetin neighborhood and Netti Dr. Diel – A world in a chest”, organized by the National Museum of Banat and the Politehnica University of Timișoara in 2020, which was based on the manuscript Family diary of Prof. Dr. Pia Brînzeu, was the point starting point of this show.

The dance moments describe the story of three women, all living in very different historical eras: Timișoara between the wars (Netti), Timișoara during the years of communism (Carla) and Timișoara post-December (Pia) and use digital technology and elements of augmented reality, components made by polytechnic students, involved with the "Spotlight Heritage Timisoara" project.

The dance performance recorded in an AR multimedia experience can be viewed here:

The "Spotlighting Timisoaraʹs Heritage through Dance" project continues the steps of two previous projects: one by Magnum Team, entitled "Dancing through heritage buildings", carried out in 2021, and the second by the Politehnica University of Timișoara, in partnership with the National Museum of Banat, entitled "Spotlight Heritage Timișoara".

The last dance performance will illustrate a story from the Cetate neighborhood.
