Spotlight Heritage Timisoara celebrates Timisoara's culture and historical heritage with the City Celebration. Discover Timișoara through innovative virtual and mixed reality applications.

From 7-8 October 2023, Spotlight Heritage Timisoara will be part of the City Celebration event, bringing the richness of Timisoara's heritage to the fore. On this occasion and to celebrate the city of Timișoara, the Spotlight team has prepared a series of events to celebrate the history and culture of the city and the Bega Canal.
International Festival of Digital Culture and Heritage - XR Demonstrations
In UPT Technical Museum - ExperimentariumTM will host, from 7 to 8 October 2023, International Festival of Digital Culture and Heritage - XR Demonstrations - Science and Tech Playground.
This component of the festival will bring digital technology to the heart of the city, giving participants the opportunity to venture into a complex real-virtual world. Using state-of-the-art technologies, visitors will virtually explore the streets of Timișoara, discover the most famous monuments and learn about the city's history and heritage presented in the Heritage in the Spotlight Timișoara project.
Children and young people will have the chance to explore fascinating physics experiments and learn about the history of computers and the city, guided by experienced tutors.
Patterns of poetry is another digital installation for the public to enjoy. Made by artist Marius Jurca (13m10j), this is an interactive installation with custom software through which the city of Timisoara is discovered through poetry and colour! This installation is an interactive project based on poems created by writer Robert Șerban, under the title "Poems about Miss Timisoara", part of the Heritage in the Spotlight project.
The museum will also house the Physic AI Garden. This installation based on Artificial Intelligence is realized by Anna Dumitru and Alex May, in collaboration with the CAPABLE project and Revolution BioArt organized by the Romanian Science Festival. The installation offers a unique interactive experience for participants. Using the latest digital technologies, it presents a dynamic virtual garden, where virtual plants and fungi grow and interact with each other and how different drugs can affect organic organisms and influence their development.
Science and Tech Playground to open daily between the hours of 12:00 and 17:00, to offer an exciting experience to all those eager to discover Timișoara in an innovative way.
International Festival of Culture and Digital Heritage - Bega Canal Heritage
As part of Timisoara Heritage in the Spotlight, the Polytechnic University of Timisoara brought the Bega Canal and its natural and historical environment to the fore with two impressive installations. In UPT Creative Campus Space (Bd. Vasile Pârvan Nr. 2, Electro courtyard) will take place International Festival of Culture and Digital Heritage - Bega Canal Heritage, through which the public can discover the Bega Canal in a different light.
Using technology to map and capture anthropocentric monuments and sites, Norwegian artist Ingrid Bjørnaali and Romanian artist Marius Jurca were able to capture the Bega canal in detail and bring it back to life with 3D scans. The work of the two artists resulted in the work Bega Echoes/ Bega Echoes.which will be on display for the public.
Also, through virtual reality work Bega Canal Heritageby UPT students, participants will have the opportunity to discover people's stories and information about the biosphere around the Bega Canal using state-of-the-art digital technologies, accompanied by the lyrics of poet Robert Serban to create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Bega Canal Heritage will be opened daily between the hours of 12:00 and 17:00, inviting the public to discover the rich history and nature of the Bega Canal.
Heritage in the spotlight Timișoara - Street exhibition
This exhibition will invite the public to take a sensory journey along the banks of the Bega Canal through various locations. Starting from the Flora Restaurant on the banks of the Bega Canal, under the guidance of cultural mediators, participants will explore urban spaces and key points of the city's development.
The importance of personal stories and individual experiences in building the identity of the city and its culture will be highlighted. The programme for visiting the street exhibition will be daily between the hours of 15:00 and 17:00, giving everyone the opportunity to add their own contribution to the "Your Story" category on the https://spotlight-timisoara.eu/.
